I enjoy working with clients from multicultural backgrounds, and strive to honor the lived experiences of BIPOC while providing therapy in a culturally responsive manner.
Hello! I self-identify as a second-generation Indian-American Muslim woman. I recognize holding multiple, diverse identities while navigating a Western world can have challenges. I aim to equip clients with the tools needed to preserve their mental health and overcome the concerns impacting their well-being.
I strive to create a collaborative, culturally affirming environment where individuals can strengthen their personal growth throughout therapy to achieve their goals.
I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist born and raised in San Francisco, CA. I traded the fog for sunshine when I attended San Diego State University to earn my Master of Science in Counseling. I enjoy working with those belonging to BIPOC populations, particularly those belonging to the South Asian and MENA (Middle Eastern and North African) diasporas. I also have a special focus on working with the teenage and young adult populations between the ages of 16-25.
I have experience providing individual, couples, and group therapy along with substance use counseling. My areas of interest include life transitions, relationships, attachment injuries, depression, anxiety, and bereavement.
My Approach
I consider myself eclectic with my therapeutic approach and am extensively trained in Narrative Therapy. I use Narrative Therapy to conceptualize life as a series of chapters, where we all have the power to shift away from problem saturated stories and reauthor them to a preferred storyline. The problem is the problem - not the person! I also incorporate, mindfulness, solution focused, and emotion focused therapy (EFT) with my clients.
My approach to therapy is comprised of empathy, active listening, humor, and rapport building - getting to know who you are outside of your presenting concerns: your hobbies, interests, and perhaps what you’re binging on Netflix. I believe in seeing my clients as holistic beings and how they live life outside of the therapy room. If my style resonates with you, I look forward to hearing from you!
